The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a significant initiative by the Indian government to encourage households to adopt rooftop solar power systems. Launched in 2024, this scheme aims to provide free electricity of up to 300 units per month to one crore households across India.

Key Features:

1. Central Financial Assistance (CFA):

60% subsidy for systems up to 2 kW.
40% subsidy for systems between 2 to 3 kW.
Maximum subsidy: Rs. 78,000 for a 3 kW system.

2. Free Electricity:

Households under this scheme will receive up to 300 units of electricity free every month.

3. Support for Rural and Urban Areas:

The scheme includes the development of a Model Solar Village in each district to encourage solar adoption in rural areas.
Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions will receive incentives to promote rooftop solar installations.
